Interlinking Communities on a Global Scale into Shared Experiences.
Stimulus Projects focuses on developing projects that bridge communities together on a global-scale as a means of effectively addressing pressing global issues, while simulatneously faciliating dialogues as a means to catalyze change in the way we understand our world. Stimulus Projects collaborates with local partners on in devising and implementing initiatives to address issues of inequality, poverty, and gender discrimination by stimulating the self-expression of under-represented communities through journalism via inter-active channels of digital and technology based platforms.
At present, we have initiated links between the girls and young women of the Lower East Side Girls Club of New York City and the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy of Nairobi, Kenya to use multi-media technologies and web-based platforms to express their voices and empower change in communities, essentially transforming their circumstances through shared experiences. By providing web-based applications and technology to under-served and under-represented communities as well as bridging global links among girls associaitions, clubs, and schools with journalism and media generated by girls from around the world for girls like them who have joined this digital girls club.
With the support of the Lower East Side Girls Club, the Geo Girls Citizen Journalism Project has enabled the girls of Kibera Girls Soccer Academy to bring their voices to the surface while nurturing their abilities and talents through multi-media projects to web-based hubs shared among the Geo-Girl Citizens Journalism Community. The Geo-Girls Citizen Journalism Project also broadens knowledge and skills, therefore increasing viable opportunities in catalyzing not only positive but also sustainable change.
